Kaspar is sitting is a photo series in progress which depicts my boyfriend using the computer.
He sits at the computer all the time, for hours on end. I watch him through my big medium-format camera. As my subject is completely absorbed in this world, he doesn’t notice me. I choose between different points of view and finally press the button – the camera makes a loud noise, but he still doesn’t notice me.
“Kaspar is sitting” is the acceptance of a situation where technology plays an increasingly large role in all of our everyday lives, including in my own home, making someone close to me unavailable and leaving me alone with a physical form that barely reacts.
